“Corvettes and Tight Dresses”

The following is a poem from my newest unpublished book of poetry.

Corvettes and Tight Dresses

Corvettes and tight dresses
black ties and blue blazers
is that what I wanted
in the memory of my youth?

Nightclubs and all night party’s
wild women if I was lucky
in a no luck town
on a no luck street with no name.

Corvettes and tight dresses
who’d ever guessed it’d be us
when the party was over
all I wanted was to be with you.

Corvettes and tight dresses
traded for blue sweats and a Lexus
longing for a calm moment
sitting with the grand kids and you.
